On an angled, grey stone plinth is a bolted-down bronze plaque, which is in a square enclosure, of brick pavers on three sides, and the concrete kerb on the fourth. The rough-barked Dedicated Tree (an unknown species of Gum Tree) is surrounded with fine wood chips, and has a slight lean out towards the road. It is right beside a council's rubbish bin. The plaque has the following punched inscription:
IN MEMORY OF
PTE. H. M. LEASK
WHO PAID THE SUPREME SACRIFICE
During WORLD WAR II
1939 - 1945
Address: (Opposite from the Merrylands Police Station), Memorial Avenue, Merrylands, NSW, 2160, Australia
Visited: 0848, Friday, 28 December, 2018
The only mention, so far found online, is for Private Harold Medcalf Leask, from the Australian Army Medical Corps, dying on 14th May 1943, aged 32. Enlistment Number: NX7346. ex-'War Dead Leasks', and WW2 Leask, search.
* While there are x 44 Dedicated Trees on Memorial Avenue, for the locals of 'Holroyd City' who lost their life during World War 2, I was not able to get photos of each. *
