[GER] Der St. Pauli Elbtunnel ist eine der Sehenswürdigkeiten in Hamburg. Der Tunnel wurde im Zeitraum 1907-1911 erbaut und verbindet das Nordufer der damaligen Wohnquartiere mit dem Südufer der Elbe an dem die Werften und sonstige Hafenbetriebe ansässig sind.
Der Tunnel ist technologisch einmalig, da Personen und Fahrzeuge mit Fahrstühlen 24m nach unten befördert werden um dann die Elbe zu unterqueren. Die alte Technik ist noch vorhanden und wird für die Beförderung weiterhin benutzt.
Für die Anreise empfiehlt sich die U/S-Bahn bis zum Bahnhof Landungsbrücken oder einer der Hafenfähren ebenfalls bis Landungsbrücken. Parkmöglichkeiten sind vor Ort nur begrenzt und kostenpflichtig vorhanden.
[ENG] The St. Pauli Elbe Tunnel is one of the sights in Hamburg. The tunnel was built between 1907 and 1911 and connects the north bank of the former residential quarters with the south bank of the Elbe where the shipyards and other port operations are located.
The tunnel is technologically unique, as people and vehicles are transported down 24m with lifts to cross under the Elbe. The old technology still exists and is still used for transport.
For the journey we recommend the subway to the station Landungsbrücken or one of the harbour ferries also to Landungsbrücken. Parking is limited on site and is subject to a charge.
