The Purcell post office was built by the Treasury Department in 1938 as one of the New Deal projects. The WPA funding was also used to provide murals to hang in many of the U.S. Post Offices during that time.
The Purcell mural is called "The Roundup" and was painted on canvas by Fred Conway in 1940. The scene shows three mounted cowboys "rounding up" a herd of cattle for market. The mural shows a lot of action and you can feel the energy as you view it.
