The aquatic centre includes a five-lane 25 meter lap pool, children's leisure pool, on-deck whirlpool and sauna. Also in the complex is an ice rink, gymnasium, indoor track, wellness area consisting of cardio and strength training equipment, and aerobic studio.
There are two swim teams that people can join: Huron Hurricanes Aquatic Club and Special Olympics Swim Team. There are many swimming lesson programs as well as programs for lifeguarding, CPR, and emergency first aid.
The Maitland Recreation Centre is a joint venture between the YMCA as operators and the Town of Goderich as builders and contributors of operating funds. The building was officially dedicated on January 9, 2004.
