He is best known for his novel The Good Soldier Švejk (
visit link) , an unfinished collection of farcical incidents about a soldier in World War I and a satire on the ineptitude of authority figures. The novel has been translated into about 60 languages, making it the most translated novel in Czech literature.

There is a house (
visit link) in Lipnice nad Sazavou where the writer Jaroslav Hašek lived at the end of his life. There is a small exposition that reminds him of his life and work. In the village you will also find its grave and pub where you like to go.
