In Walpole, within the Walpole Rural Cemetery, is a grave marker bearing the name of the Nason family, and includes the name of Willaby Nason, who was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War.
Walpole Rural Cemetery is located north of Massachusetts Route 1A. From this road, near the bridge over the Neponset River, take the turn onto North Street. Follow this road a short distance to Pemberton Street and the cemetery. The marker is on a slope, toward the bottom.
The marker is made of black granite, and marks the graves of the Nason family. At the top is:
"Willaby Nason
A Revolutionary Soldier and Pensioner
2-1-1750 - 4-9-1838"
His wife, Mary, is below, as well as several of their children. At the bottom is text stating that a grandson of Willaby erected this monument in 1900.
