In 2002, the United States issued a set of 50 different stamps each proclaiming greetings from one of the 50 states. These were meant to resemble the always popular “Greetings from…” picture post cards. Tennessee’s stamp featured a guitar, alluding to the state’s long association with country music, the Smoky Mountains, which form part of the state’s eastern border with North Carolina, and Nashville, the state’s capital city.
The view of the city’s skyline is from the east, across the Cumberland River as seen from one of the overlooks on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. The most recognizable skyscraper is the AT&T building which is sometimes called the “Batman building” for obvious reasons. It was completed in 1994 and is currently the tallest building in the State of Tennessee.
