The Tharwa bridge over the Murrumbidgee River has a four-span Allan truss section with modern approach spans and concrete piers. The first pile was driven in May 1894 and the bridge was opened ten months later on 27 March 1895.The bridge is the oldest surviving bridge in the ACT and the first to cross the upper Murrumbidgee.
