Two outer walls of the newest Hideaway Pizza location are painted with murals. I didn't realize at first that all the creatures featured are actually kites (a close-up shows the strings). The south wall is about 15' high and 40' wide. Around the corner, the west wall is about 15' high and 30' wide.
The south wall features a yellow Chinese Dragon kite, spanning about 2/3 of the wall. Under it, on the left panel, are two kissing fish; the center area shows a colorful butterfly, and the right side a purple pteradactyl. On the sidewalk in front of this wall is a helium container, with balloons painted above it to look like they are attached to the container! What an illusion the artist has created!
The west wall has the following kites depicted: American flag kite, stingray? turtle, dragonfly, and octopus. The artist's signature is at the bottom of the center panel.
Everything depicted on these murals is painted with bright colors that look just amazing together!
Western Ave. in OKC is known for its murals, and this one by Kristin Davis is a great addition to the art in the area.
