FR L’église Notre Dame de Beaulieu renferme des œuvres d’art d’une très grande richesse.
L’orgue qui surplombe le porche d’entrée fut construit en 1786 par Pierre Duges, à partir d’un orgue plus ancien (1614) dû à Pierre Marchand. De l’ancien orgue de Marchand il reste un peu plus de quatre jeux, d’une valeur inestimable par leur rareté. Le reste de la tuyauterie date pour l’essentiel de la fin du XVIIIème siècle.
L’orgue a été restauré entre 1975 et 1983 par Patrice Bellet, facteur d’orgue à Embarthe. Le principe adopté lors de cette première tranche de travaux était de conserver et remettre en état tout ce qui pouvait l’être, et de ne refaire à neuf que l’indispensable : quelques pièces de bois trop vermoulues (charpente de la soufflerie), le clavier manuel (à refaire au modèle de l’ancien, qui avait disparu), et les parties manquantes de la tuyauterie (basses de la Montre, Tierce, Larigot, principalement).
Grâce à ce parti pris de prudence, associé à la compétence et au talent du facteur, l’instrument a gardé un caractère très typé, qui lui a valu rapidement une grande réputation. La restauration a été saluée comme une réussite exemplaire.
Ainsi l’orgue de Cucuron est il devenu, au cours de ces vingt sept années orgue de concert, de festival, instrument de référence. Il se doit d’être particulièrement représentatif de son époque, et aussi du savoir-faire d’aujourd’hui en matière de restauration. Certaines lacunes doivent maintenant être comblées ; certaines prudences, parfaitement justifiées en 1983, doivent être dépassées. L’intérêt historique et culturel de l’instrument étant unanimement reconnu, le moment est venu d’en parachever la restauration.
EN The Notre Dame de Beaulieu church contains works of art of great richness.
The organ overlooking the entrance porch was built in 1786 by Pierre Duges, from an older organ (1614) by Pierre Marchand. From the old Marchand organ there are still a little more than four stops, of inestimable value for their rarity. The rest of the piping dates mainly from the end of the 18th century.
The organ was restored between 1975 and 1983 by Patrice Bellet, organ builder at Embarthe. The principle adopted during this first phase of work was to preserve and restore everything that could be preserved and to refurbish only the essential: a few pieces of wood that were too wormed (wind tunnel frame), the manual keyboard (to be redone like the old one, which had disappeared), and the missing parts of the pipes (mainly the watch basses, Tierce, Larigot).
Thanks to this prudent approach, combined with the skill and talent of the maker, the instrument has kept a very distinctive character, which quickly earned it a great reputation. The restoration was hailed as an exemplary success.
Thus the Cucuron organ has become, during these twenty-seven years, a concert, festival and reference instrument. It must be particularly representative of its time, and also of today's restoration know-how. Some deficiencies now need to be addressed; some prudences, perfectly justified in 1983, need to be overcome. The historical and cultural interest of the instrument being unanimously recognized, the time has come to complete its restoration.
