[EN] "The curves in the east are marked by sculptures and steles. From 1935 to 1937 the sculptures Diskuswerfer and Stafettenläufer by Karl Albiker were created. From both sculptures running towards the East Gate, one victory stele for each Olympic Summer and Winter Game commemorates the German gold medal winners of the Games since 1896, based on a model from Greek antiquity. The memorial stones (Olympic stelae) have the architectural character of an outer pillar ring. The transition to Maifeld is framed by two sculptures Rosseführer by Joseph Wackerle. The four sculptures as well as the cladding of the marathon gate are made of Gauinger travertine. They were cut out of a large stone block on site. The artists' task was to reflect the architecture of the Reichssportfeld in the design of the sculptures."
