"Ants and hives
As iconic as it has become, the Squirrel has not always been the emblem of the Caisse d'Epargne. Or more precisely Caisses d'Epargne, each regional sign of the network being, it must be remembered, a bank of right. "Originally, the Caisses d'Epargne had different symbols," says Cédric Mignon, the director of development of the brand. Searching through its bicentennial archives - the Caisse d'Epargne will celebrate its 200th anniversary next year - we find the trace of a hive, in the 1920s and 1930s, then an ant, in the early 1940s Symbolic icons of the worker's DNA of the brand and its flagship product, the Livret A, the first bank placement for the very general public.
