[FR] Ce kiosque à musique se trouve dans le parc Mirabeau.
Le parc Mirabeau a été aménagé après le déménagement du cimetière Saint-Jean-des-Coups, fermé suite à l’inondation de 1856 (les tombes ne furent déménagées qu’en 1889). Ce cimetière, aussi appelé cimetière de l’est, avait lui-même été aménagé en 1777 dans les jardins d’un ancien prieuré. De ce cimetière subsiste une allée de marronniers qui conduisait à la chapelle. En 1891, il est réaménagé par Louis Ernest Madelin, jardinier en chef du jardin botanique. Sa partie nord a été amputée en 1957 pour l’agrandissement de l’école voisine dont je vous reparlerai pour sa plaque commémorant la déportation d’élèves juifs. Il a aujourd’hui une superficie de moins de 1ha.

Le kiosque, construit en béton imitant le bois, technique très à la mode à cette époque (vous pouvez revoir par exemple dans le même style les aménagements du jardin anglais dans le parc de Blossac à Poitiers), date de ce réaménagement et a été construit à la place d’une ancienne chapelle du 12e siècle, vestige du prieuré conservé lors de l’aménagement du cimetière.
