The house 'U Splavinu' is located at Lesser Town Square. Originally two houses from the Gothic period was after a fire in 1503 at the Renaissance reconstruction combined into one. In the 60th-70th years of the 18th century the building was rebuilt in Baroque style. From this period comes a striking fresco of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary in front of the house.

V dolní cásti Malostranského námestí poutá pozornost dum cp. 36 U Splavínu predevším velkou freskou na své fasáde, probíhající obema patry a predstavující korunování Panny Marie. Fasáda pochází ze šedesátých a sedmdesátých let 18. století. Dum se nazývá též U Flavínu, podle nekdejšího majitele jednoho z domu dríve zde stojících, dvorského nns- tosudího Víta Flavina z Rotenfeldu a na Pokraticích (f 1595). Dum vznikl ze dvou domu stredovekých, prestavených renesancne a pozdne renesancne sjednocených pred rokem 1606 Oba domy stojící na dnešním mestišti cp. 36 dvakrát spolecne vyhorely. Poprvé se tak stalo za husitských bourí v roce 1420, podruhé za velkého požáru východní cásti Male Stran) 17. srpna 1503. Oba však byly brzy, ješte v pozdne gotickém slohu, obnoveny.
Ke sjednocení domu muselo dojít pred rokem 1606, protože takto je dum cp. 36 zachycen již na van der Boscheho prospektu, jenž je práve z tohoto roku. Tehdy vznikla základní dispozice objektu, který byl v té dobe nazýván honosným meštanským domem. Stalo se tak za majitele Jana Kochla z Hollensteina, zámožného meštana a konšela.Ten však v nejisté dobe stavovského povstání stál na nesprávné strane, byl protestantem.Ve víre setrval, a tak jeho dum na Malostranském námestí propadl spolu s témer veškerým jeho dalším nemalým majetkem konfiskacím. Navíc musel s celou rodinou opustit Cechy a odebrat se do Saska. Do Prahy se Jan Kóchl z Hollensteina vrátil až 15. listopadu 1631, kdy saská vojska mesto zhruba na pul roku obsadila. Snažil se tady dohledat svuj zabavený majetek. Pritom zjistil, že dum cp. 36 U Splavínu už má nového majitele, císarského komorníka Tomáše Marka z Markfeldu, který ho koupil jako kon- fiskát od Ceské komory.
