Norwegian born John J. Tokheim filed the first patent for a pump that could accurately meter the delivery of fuel in Iowa in 1901.
The "Tokheim 39" pump was manufactured between 1939 and the early 1950s and was one of the most popular fuel dispensers of its time.
This pump is on display in Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, California.
Somewhat ironic to find a GASOLINE pump right next to the only repair facility for STEAM engines in North America. |
