The Cathedral for the Diocese of Lafayette was also the first church in the civil Parish and construction was completed in 1916.

Beautiful church and grounds. Land was donated in 1821 and was the first church built in the Louisiana civil parish of Lafayette. Grounds also feature a large and very old cemetery, plus the 500+ year old "Cathedral Oak" tree. There is also a gift shop/bookstore within the complex. Placed on the Nathional Register of Historic Places in 1979.
