The Quiet Game by Marcus Brown is the first in what will become a series of Payton Durham Mysteries. Without giving away the thing about this character that makes him unique, suffice it to say that it creates a very different type mystery. The author tells the story in first person which puts you right there with the main character.
The main portion of the book takes place in Edmond, OK and several places in town are mentioned, including the University of Central Oklahoma. We have chosen, however, the Around the Corner restaurant. This is a breakfast and lunch restaurant located in downtown Edmond. It is a place where the "locals" gather - some having eaten here for decades.
The main character, Payton Durham, is eating at the restaurant one day when he glances out to the sidewalk and spots a man he suspects is a perpetrator (you'll have to read the book to know what he bases that on). He leaves the restaurant and begins to follow the suspect, and the storyline progresses from there.
This is a great book and one that will keep you turning pages, riveted to the characters and the unique features of our hero. You'll enjoy the book, and will enjoy any meal eaten at Around the Corner too.
