This house was either constructed after 1907 or the original house on this lot was dramatically redesigned. The house is on a lot purchased by Robert Kahler in the late 1870s. His brother Charles Wesley "C.W." Kahler, a prominent Jacksonville attorney, owned the property by the late 1890s. Charles settled in Jacksonville in October 1852, practiced law from 1868 to 1903, and in 1878 served one term in the Oregon legislature.
