Within the park, the statue is appropriately located near the entrance to the fishing pier. The 3.9 meter by 3.0 meter crab was carved from a single red cedar tree. After being coated with a fiberglass, it was sanded to bring out its color and highlight its details.

"Carved with a chain saw and power tools, this super sized sea creature combines natural and industrial materials and is nestled in the rocks along Nanaimo's shoreline near a popular spot for fishing and crabbing."
