"Just 45 minutes from Denver and 4 miles south of Idaho Springs on Highway 103 (Exit 240 off I-70), Mt. Evans Trout Fishing is nestled in a mountain canyon along Chicago Creek, a sunny retreat against the backdrop of green wooded mountainsides…your family fishing headquarters! A great way to introduce your child to the sport, the whole family can have a fun-filled day of fishing at Grandma & Grandpa's Fishing Pond. Because it is a private pond, no license is required.

At 8,700 feet in elevation, our fresh, clean mountain air and temperate sunny climate provide a fun stop for travelers or a never-to-be-forgotten day for the whole family. Our well-stocked lake, including trophy-size fighters, is handicap accessible with easy walk-on access. Bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy the beauty of our wooded picnic area with tables alongside the cool waters of Chicago Creek.

Reindeer also live at Grandma & Grandpa's Fishing Pond. These unique and friendly animals enjoy visitors and love children. They have such friendly, adorable personalities and would love to visit with you. So come on by anytime to visit these unique and interesting animals.

Rustic mountain log cabins are available for those wanting to extend their stay and take in the natural beauty of this area of the Rocky Mountains.

At 14,240 feet, Mount Evans is within a few minute's drive via The Mount Evans Scenic Byway – the highest paved automobile road in the United States. Often called The Road into the Sky, this breathtaking drive climbs from 8,700 feet at Idaho Springs, passes by the Trout Pond at 4 miles, and ascends another 10 miles up to the summit of Mount Evans over 14,000 feet. All this in a mere 14 miles!

After taking in spectacular views and the Mountain Goats and Bighorn Sheep that greet you at the top, return to Grandma & Grandpa's Fishing Pond for a relaxing evening of fishing fun and stargazing. Nearby Idaho Springs also offers a variety of services, shopping, and entertainment.

Our World-Famous Rocky Mountain Rainbow Trout provide a treat that cannot be duplicated. The thrill of a Rainbow hitting your line, watching him jump clear out of the water as you reel him in, and finally landing a pan-sized beauty is sport unexcelled. The delicate flavor and solid meat of these trout raised in icy mountain waters is incomparable, far superior to trout sold in grocery stores. Poles, bait, fish cleaning and friendly help are available. No License! No Limit! So come on by for a few minutes or for a whole day of fun and take home a tasty treat unsurpassed.
