"Two pairs of somewhat abstract figures face each other. One pair are two academics, a man and a woman, wearing caps and gowns. The man holds a book at chest level with both hands and the woman holds a branch in front of her. They face two townspeople wearing long dresses, capes, and hats. One has a purse on her proper left arm and the other holds an umbrella at her waist, with the tip resting on the ground." -Smithsonian Art Inventory Catalogue

The sculpture is on the north side of the Willamette University campus near Waller Hall. The sculpture was presented as part of the commemoration of Willamette University's Sesquicentennial.
