This pyramid of cannon balls marks the location of Crittenden's Headquarters at daylight on Sept. 19, 1863. It is located on Lee and Gordon Mill Circle in Chickamauga, GA. This marker is outside of the Chickamauga National Military Park.

Thomas Leonidas Crittenden Headquarters at daylight on Sept. 19, 1863, during the
Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 19–20, 1863. The XXI Army Corps was part of the
Army of the Cumberland .

Long Significance Description:

Monument marks the locaton of the Headquarters of Major General Thomas L. Crittenden on September 19, 1863 while he commanded the 21st Army Corps of the Army of the Cumberland during the Battle of Chickamauga.

Short Physical Description
7'10" square at base and 5' high, the monument consists of a pyramid of cannonballs set in cement & painted black, resting on a molded limestone base. Attached to base is a painted metal plaque identifying the HQ site.
Long Physical Description
Square base is made up of artillery shells: 7 wide by 7 deep. It is 7 layers tall.
Monument is located south of Chickamauga Battlefield near Lee & Gordon's Mill.
