The building at 503 E. 5th Street is a two-story concrete block building in the Early Commercial style. The facade has brick veneer. The building is boarded up and appears to be vacant at this time. On the upper wall is a circle with the symbol of the African-American Masonic organization, known as Prince Hall, who once occupied the second floor space. A faded wooden sign above the front entrance shows "Rock Solid Ministry" but there does not appear to be any activity at this location now.
The building was constructed in 1922. The roof line has a brick rowlock coping. Two sets of paired wooden windows have been partially boarded up, leaving two single wood-framed double-hung windows. There are two small storefronts with wood doors and a single window, all of which are boarded up.
This building is located in a run-down area of town and may not ever be renovated. It is Item 14 on the District nomination.
