A profile of George Washington hangs in the visitor center at
Ferry Farm, the site of George's boyhood home in Stafford County, Virginia. A plaque near the carved relief identifies the sculptor as A. W. Jones from New York. Since it was patented in 1858 which is the 100th anniversary of Washington leaving the army and the same year the restoration of Mt. Vernon began, it is assumed the plaque was done to commemorate those events. The reverse was signed by the artist.
