Donald Campbell C.B.E. used many different lakes to achieve his record breaking runs. His final attempts took place on Coniston Water as his boat back flipped on the return run on Coniston Water. The wreckage was recovered in 2001 and his remains interred in
Coniston Graveyard.
There is a bid to have a more extensive Campbell display as part of the Coniston Museum, showing the wreckage of this last Bluebird. A Replica Bluebird with a comprehensive display is at the
Lakeland Motor Museum.
