"The Driller" is kneeling to drive a stake into a rock. This memorial commemorates Colonel Edwin Drake who drilled the first oil well. The statue is located straight in from the Woodlawn Cemetery entrance.

"The Driller" is part of the Drake Memorial erected in 1901 commemorates Colonel Edwin Drake who specifically drilled the first well to obtain oil. It was created with a $100,000 donation by Henry H. Rogers of Standard Oil Company, which would now be worth $2.2 million in current dollars.
