"The Driller" is part of the Drake Memorial erected in 1901 commemorates Colonel Edwin Drake who specifically drilled the first well to obtain oil. It was created with a $100,000 donation by Henry H. Rogers of Standard Oil Company, which would now be worth $2.2 million in current dollars.
