This sundial was given to Atlanta by the Federal Republic of Germany in 1983. It is located along Margaret Mitchell Square in Walton Spring Triangle. Walton Spring Triangle is a small park bounded by Andrew Young International Blvd, Spring Street and Carnegie Way.
The German Sundial is an Equatorial sundial made from steel and iron that stands on top of a triangular limestone base. The base has the Federal Republic of Germany Eagle on one side and a globe held in a pair of hand on another side. The sundial sits in a bed of liriope. A plaque that reads “The Federal Republic of Germany to Atlanta 1983” is attached to the sidewalk in front of the sundial.

DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH: The eagle is not on all 3 side of the base. One side has a representation of the earth with what appears to be hands holding it (see photograph). Did not check side 3.
