This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Hamilton and the Town of Wenham. The letters "H" (for Hamilton) and "W" (for Wenham) are inscribed on opposite sides. The date (1905) is inscribed on a third side. It is approximately eight inches square and four feet high.
The marker is located on the north side of Union Street (Hamilton)/Porter Street (Wenham), near the entrance driveway to the Hamilton-Wenham Public Library.
