The Denver Municipal Auditorium was started in 1907 (finished in 1908) in time to host the 1908 National Democratic Convention (
visit link) . At the time, the only larger auditorium was Madison Square Garden in New York City. The building had been refurbished many times and is now the Ellie Caulkins Opera House (
visit link) . The building is part of the Denver Performing Arts Center. It is also on the National Register of Historic Places.
