At 54 years old, this is probably one of the youngest buildings in this historic dist. along the eastern half of Kings Hwy. In keeping w/ the preserved Colonial theme of the dist., this house contributes to the overall appearance despite its youth.

The house, given its newer age, blends in well with the historic district. Located at the corner of Kings Highway East and Mechanic Street this brick building has all the appearances, and charm of a typical 2 1/2 story colonial home. it is used however for commercial purposes being home to a business called "Harrison's Gifts of Distinction". It seems that it might be rented in two different sections as a narrow doorway on the right has a for rent sign out front of it. I am pretty sure there are apartments up top with some businesses as well.
At one time, there was a narrow alley way between this building and the building next to it. Both buildings are now connected by a very long and very narrow business which has filled in the once tiny alley.
For a little more physical description of this site, I have added information from the original nomination form sent to the Department of the Interior to place this town on the NRHP. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America. This house adds to that with its Colonial facade.
“New 2-story brick and shingle building, gift shop on first floor, offices and apartments above. Porch overhang with wood posts, bulk windows set back about five feet, divided lights. Flower boxes under the bulk windows. All well done in Colonial tradition."
If you have half a mind to explore this waymark and the hundreds of others in this historic area, go to this WEBSITE, you will see where all the free parking in town is located as well as all the other historical areas. The are several close-by public parking areas. The public parking area takes nickels, dimes and quarters. There is also parking located right out in front of this historic site (I parked directly in front of this "house"). Foot and regular traffic can be a very overwhelming, especially at this location, in the warm months, but easy pickings in the colder months. People park on the street for hours at a time so go early.
