La Raza DGC is located in Parque de La Raza de Paz, which is a small park adjacent to
Hellyer Park in south San Jose. This park had been closed for many years by the county due to undesirable activity that had been occurring there. The
Silicon Valley Disc Golf Club, having successfully operated the nearby
Coyote Creek DGC with no problems, petitioned the Parks and Recreation Department for permission to expand disc golf into this park area. Permission was granted and club donors quickly funded the purchase of baskets and tee pads.
Due to possible flooding and environmental concerns, the baskets are removed from the course during the Winter months, of November through March. When the course is open, there is nice parking lot with nearby bathroom facilities available.
