This location is known as McCord’s Corner. S.B. McCord, first mayor of Baker City, built a home here in 1873. McCord and his wife had 12 childern, several of whom also figured prominently in Baker County history. The shop was built in 1917 by Nelson McCord, one of the sons. It was originally a mechanic’s shop and later a grocery store.
