The Baker City Hall was built in 1903. Baker City was know as the “Queen City of the Inland Empire” at the turn of the century. The city fathers wanted a City Hall that reflected the town’s status, so they commissioned this stately Renaissance Revival building. The building is rock faced with volcanic tuff from a local source and features a central entrance and a clock and bell tower. This is one of two clock tower clocks in Oregon that is weight driven, the other is in the Crook County Courthouse.
