"Con motivo del centenario de Platero y Yo, se creó un museo escultórico al aire libre que integran piezas inspiradas en distintos capítulos de la universal obra de Juan Ramón, así como las estatuas de Juan Ramón y Zenobia que ya se levantaban en las plazas del cabildo y del Marqués.

Con motivo del Año Platero distintos autores pusieron lo mejor de su capacidad artística para crear este homenaje permanente al poeta y a su universal personaje.

Situada junto al ábside de la iglesia del Monasterio de Santa Clara e inspirada en el capítulo LV de Platero y Yo en el que Juan Ramón se cuestiona porqué un animal como el asno no tiene una definición apropiada en el diccionario cuando es "tan intelectual, amigo del viejo y del niño, del arroyo y de la mariposa...". Su autor Víctor Pulido utilizó láminas de metales convertidas en trazos de letras y nombres para dar forma a los inconfundibles volúmenes de Platero."
