We continue on our journey from Prague Castle towards Malostranské námestí (Lesser Town Square). We took the shortest route via the Zámecké schody (visit link) (Castle Stairs). At the bottom of the stairs, Thunovská Street begins. The name of this street might sound familiar to you... yes, it's the street with the peculiar arches (visit link) and the small bridge (visit link) . These architectural elements, however, are located in the lower half of the street (which also has a significant descent). Near the beginning of Thunovská Street is the destination of this waymark - a Tavern U Krale Brabantskeho.

Tavern U Krale Brabantskeho is located in the Lesser Town district near Prague Castle and not far from Lessr Town Suare.
It is said that this inn is one of the oldest inns in Prague. Only some elements, such as the vaulted stone ceiling, remain from the original Gothic structure. The current appearance of the building mainly stems from two construction phases - first after a fire in the mid-16th century and then from 1629 to 1633. The facade's appearance dates back to the late 19th century. Legends claim that the house was connected by a secret passage directly to Prague Castle, and Czech kings would come here in disguise.

"The tavern in the King of Brabant is one of the oldest medieval tavern in Prague and has a long history. An inscription above the door refers to Duke John I of Brabant, who is said to have written a recipe on how to make Gambrinus beer in the thirteenth century. Another inscription mentions that King Wenceslas IV liked to visit this tavern. The truth is that this tavern is on the Royal Route. The route the kings of Bohemia followed on the day of their coronation."
