The marina and fishing port of Cargese is located in the north-western part of the bay of Sagone, well protected by a mole of 200 m, oriented to the east.

Cargèse: the fishermen are still waiting for a recognition of natural disaster
The fishermen of Cargèse are in disarray. One month after the storm which ravaged their installations on the harbor, the town hall cleared partly the blocks that the sea had projected. A request for recognition of natural disaster has been filed with the prefecture.
A pontoon still under water, it is a last visible trace of the storm of the end of the year in Cargese. The fishing equipment is unusable. For a month the fishermen of the township have been waiting for their files to be taken into account by the insurance companies.
"I have lost all of my electronic boat, 80% of my equipment. To date to restart and recommend equipment, it takes about two and a half, three months of waiting. I am listing my losses, I am almost finished, I exceed 30,000 euros," said Charles Capodimacci, a fisherman boss in Cargese.
30,000 euros disappeared during the night of December 27 to 28, under the assault of the waves, the riprap of the dike gave way. The boxes built by the municipality, in which the fishermen store their equipment, are submerged.
Where to deposit the nets?
Contacted by phone, the mayor of Cargèse, declares to have filed a declaration of natural disaster with the prefecture. But the response of the State services is still pending.
The fishermen do not know where to deposit their nets. "Out of eight fishermen, everyone has been damaged. We won't be able to store anything there as long as it is not secured, it is not possible", indicates Thierry Capodimacci, fisherman boss in Cargèse.
The Ajaccio prud'homie, to which these fishing professionals belong, does not have the financial means to help them. "We use the money for operating costs and then, independently of all that, we cannot help one or two, even three fishermen. If the prud'homie could help, it would help all the fishermen of the Ajaccio prud'homie", underlined Xavier D'Orrazio, president of the Ajaccio prud'homie.
However, quick to defend all causes, the prud'homie is currently suffering from the bad weather that has been raging on the island for two months. And that puts in danger all the fishing professionals.
