På mindepladen på soklen står skrevet: I slægters minde, rider Kong Christain, tro mod sit kald, i sorg og glæde, som Danmarks konge.
På Bispetorv i Århus blev der i 1955 rejst denne store og flotte statue af afdøde kong Christian X. Den er udført af Helen Schou og soklen af arkitekt Kay Fisker.
Helen Schou har som eneste danske kvinde skabt 2 store monumenter med hesten som motiv, som er en stor bedrift både fysisk og kunstnerisk. Den anden er Den jyske hingst, som står i Randers.
Hun har udødeliggjorde den ridende konge, Christian X , sådan som fremstod under besættelsen 1849-45 som nationalt symbol.

On Bispetorv in Aarhus, this large and beautiful statue of the late King Christian X was erected in 1955. It was made by Helen Schou and the plinth by architect Kay Fisker.
Helen Schou is the only Danish woman to have created 2 large monuments with the horse as a motif, which is a great achievement both physically and artistically. The other is The Jutland stallion, which is in Randers.
She has immortalized the riding king, Christian X, as he appeared during the 1849-45 occupation as a national symbol.
