Porto-Vecchio: blessing of the couples in the church Saint-Jean Baptiste
Sunshine and blue skies were the order of the day for the solemn Sunday mass celebrated in the church of Saint John the Baptist.
The statue of the Virgin Mary was installed on the square.
This Sunday ceremony was not quite like the ordinary masses since it was "doubled" by the blessing of the couples. These couples had come to Porto-Vecchio to prepare for their upcoming wedding.
It was a spiritual weekend for them that began on Saturday at the presbytery for this particular preparation: the pillars of marriage, the commitments, the testimonies of couples, meetings and the intervention of a doctor supported this event.
The pillars and the reasons
On Saturday, a festive dinner was offered to them with the groupTra di noi and Avretu for yesterday's mass. 33 couples were involved and followed this preparation before meeting again at the solemn mass. In the heart of the nave, in the central aisle, they walked towards the altar to light and take a candle and fill a small glass container with holy water: a gesture repeated sixty-six times!
Note, and this is what was recalled, the four pillars of Christian marriage: freedom, the word that makes free; indissolubility, the commitment for life; fidelity, building a history and fruitfulness, marrying to create ...
At the end of the service, on the square, an aperitif was offered to all the participants.
