Soleil et ciel bleu étaient au rendez-vous pour la messe solennelle dominicale célébrée en l'église Saint-Jean-Baptiste.
Sur le parvis était installée la statue figurant la Vierge Marie.
Cette cérémonie dominicale n'était pas tout à fait comme les messes ordinaires puisqu'elle se trouvait "doublée" par la bénédiction des couples. Ces derniers étaient venus à Porto-Vecchio pour la préparation de leur prochain mariage.
Il s'agissait pour eux d'un week-end spirituel commencé le samedi au presbytère pour cette préparation particulière : les piliers du mariage, les engagements, les témoignages de couples, des rencontres et l'intervention d'un médecin étayaient cet événement.
Les piliers et les raisons
Samedi, c'est un dîner festif qui leur était proposé en compagnie du groupeTra di noi et d'Avretu pour la messe d'hier. 33 couples étaient concernés et suivaient cette préparation avant de se retrouver à la messe solennelle. Au coeur de la nef, dans l'allée centrale, ils s'avançaient vers l'autel pour allumer et prendre un cierge et remplir un petit récipient de verre d'eau bénite : un geste répété soixante-six fois !
À noter, et c'est ce qui était rappelé, les quatre piliers du mariage chrétien : la liberté, celle de la parole qui rend libre ; l'indissolubilité, l'engagement pour la vie ; la fidélité, construire une histoire et la fécondité, se marier pour créer...
Au sortir de l'office, sur le parvis, un apéritif d'honneur était offert à l'ensemble des participants.

In the heart of the nave, in the central aisle, they walked towards the altar to light and take a candle and fill a small glass container with holy water: a gesture repeated sixty-six times!
