Long Description:

English: At Ålum church near Viborg find no less than four rune stones. The two outside the church can be seen all day, while the two inside the church can be seen during the church's opening hours. The stones stand in pairs. This text is about Ålum 3 and 4, which can be seen outside the church.

The eel stone 3 dates from the Viking Age and is made of reddish granite. On one side of the stone is a pictorial representation of a warrior on horseback and on the other side of the stone is a runic inscription that reads: "Vigot raised this stone after his son Esge, God help his soul well". The stone probably originally stood at the foot of the church hill by Ålum, where it was discovered in 1890.

Ålum 4 (the smaller stone) also dates from the Viking Age and is made of a greyish fine-grained gneiss. The stone was found in 1902 when the dike around Ålum cemetery was erected. The following year it was erected in the above place. The runic inscription reads: "Thyre, Vigot's wife, let this stone travel after Thorbjørn, Sibb's son, her sister-in-law whom she loved more than a dear son."
