Descriptif
Le hameau de Ten-Brielen connaît une certaine prospérité liée à la draperie au Moyen Age. Une chapelle, la Capelle de Ten-Brielen, est érigée en 1357. Détruite lors des pillages des Gueux, elle est rebâtie en 1571. Une partie de sa nef centrale est pavée car le jour de la Saint-Eloi les chevaux y entrent. Suite à un nouvel incendie en 1699, les habitants de Capelle demandent à leur évêque l’érection d’une église paroissiale.
C’est un refus suivi de querelles auxquelles la Révolution de 1789 mettra fin : les chapelles sont vendues ou démolies. La paroisse de Ten-Brielen est créée en 1802 et une nouvelle chapelle est édifiée en 1805. Il faudra encore surmonter d’autres problèmes avant que les autorités communales cominoises acceptent en 1894 la construction d’une église paroissiale à Ten-Brielen.
Détruit en 1917 lors l’offensive britannique, un édifice de style néo-gothique est reconstruit en 1922 selon les plans de 1899.
