"This monument is unique in the region by its size and its double function: chapel and Calvary. The main part of the construction consists of a vast chapel called cave. Impressive facade, 3.50 meters high, in cul -of-oven, masonry in bricks, it shelters an altar on which rests a Pietà. The cross of the Calvary dominates the chapel covered with earth which forms a mound about 7 meters high.

A bit of history "The oratory, which is both chapel and Calvary, is said to be unique in the region. Originally built between 1758 and 1760, it seems to have been largely rebuilt at the end of the 19th century. C is a severe brick construction, only enhanced by a body formed by two Doric pilasters. A semicircular portal surmounted by an oculus gives access to the lower part, two successive vaulted rooms with, at the bottom, an imposing Pietà in Soignies stone whitewashed.

By an external staircase to-gaud1e, one reaches a platform, 6 m higher, surrounded by a heavy balustrade formed of brick posts. In the center, a Christ on the cross stands on a brick base. This Christ was erected in 1920, after the Great War, on the Calvary already reported on the cadastre of 1817. "

Until the 1960s, in June, a procession of several hundred devotees left the church for Calvary for a Te Deum. In 2004, a complete restoration took place: repointing of the bricks with lime mortar, interior stripping, felling of trees and removal of grids.

"Ce monument est unique dans la région par sa taille et sa double fonction : chapelle et calvaire. L'essentiel de la construction se compose d'une vaste chapelle appelée grotte. D'imposante façade, haute de 3,50 mètres, en cul-de-four, maçonnée en briques, elle abrite un autel sur lequel repose une Pietà. La croix du calvaire domine la chapelle recouverte de terre qui forme un tertre d'environ 7 mètres de haut.

Un peu d'histoire "L‘oratoire, qui est à la fois chapelle et calvaire, passe pour être unique dans la région. Bâti, à l‘origine, entre 1758 et 1760, il semble avoir été en grande partie reconstruit à la fin du XIXe siècle. C'est une sévère construction de brique, seulement rehaussée par un avant-corps formé de deux pilastres doriques. Un portail en plein-cintre surmonté d’un oculus donne accès à la partie basse, deux salles successives voûtées avec, au fond, une imposante Pietà en pierre de Soignies badigeonnée de blanc.

Par un escalier extérieur à-gaud1e, on accède à une plateforme, 6 m plus haut, entourée d’une lourde balustrade formée de potelets en brique. Au centre, un Christ en croix est dressé sur un socle de brique. Ce Christ est érigé en 1920, après la Grande Guerre, sur le calvaire déjà signalé sur le cadastre de 1817."

Jusqu‘aux années1960, en juin, une procession de plusieurs centaines de fidèles partait de l’église vers le calvaire pour un Te Deum. En 2004, une restauration complète eut lieu : rejointoiement des briques au mortier de chaux, décapage intérieur, abattage d’arbres et suppression des grilles.
