"This social sofa is located at the former wallpaper store on the corner of Slinge and Kerkwervesingel. The sofa is not only a seating element with a view of the busiest intersection in the district, but above all a monument commemorating the 60th anniversary existence of Pendrecht. The concrete bench was provided with a mosaic by a group of residents from the Zierikzeebuurt in two months. The images on the bench relate to the construction of the district. On the front is the text "1953-2013 60 years of Pendrecht" and on the back "From polder landscape to housing".
The social sofa was unveiled on January 31, 2013. The date was deliberately chosen because it was exactly 60 years after the flood of 1953. Johan van Peer, chairman of the Zierikzeebuurt working group, addressed the company and then invited Alaattin Erdal from the Charlois borough to reveal the artwork. "
