"Deze bank, een social sofa, staat bij de voormalige behangzaak op de hoek van de Slinge en de Kerkwervesingel. De bank is niet alleen een zitelement met uitzicht op de drukste kruising in de wijk, maar vooral een monument ter herinnering aan het 60-jarig bestaan van Pendrecht. De betonnen bank is in ruim twee maanden tijd door een groepje bewoners uit de Zierikzeebuurt van een mozaïek voorzien. De afbeeldingen op de bank relateren aan de bouw van de wijk. Op de voorkant staat de tekst "1953-2013 60 jaar Pendrecht" en op de achterkant "Van polderlandschap naar woningbouw".
Op 31 januari 2013 is de social sofa onthuld. Die datum is bewust gekozen, omdat het precies 60 jaar na de watersnood van 1953 was. Johan van Peer, de voorzitter van de werkgroep Zierikzeebuurt, sprak het gezelschap toe en nodigde daarna Alaattin Erdal van de deelgemeente Charlois uit het kunstwerk te onthullen."
