Origine du nom

Cette voie honore le diplomate et entrepreneur français Ferdinand de Lesseps (1805-1894) surtout connu pour avoir fait construire le canal de Suez.

Situation et accès

Le quai Ferdinand-de-Lesseps est situé sur la rive droite de la Seine, entre le quai Émile-Duchemin dont la limite est marquée par le pont Gustave-Flaubert et le quai de Boisguilbert. La voie ferrée qui longe le quai le sépare du boulevard Ferdinand-de-Lesseps. Les hangars séparent le quai de la promenade Normandie-Niemen (qui s'étire du pont Gustave-Flaubert au pont Guillaume-le-Conquérant).

Historique

Les façades et les toitures sont inscrites au titre des monuments historiques en 1997. Edifice construit par Lucien Lefort en 1901 lors du prolongement vers l'ouest des installations portuaires. Le bâtiment se compose d'une tour en brique industrielle à l'élévation supérieure traitée en faux machicoulis surmontée d'un toit en pyramide. Un petit bâtiment adventice de même structure contenait une partie de la machinerie. Il ne reste plus rien des anciennes installations intérieures.

Location and access

The Ferdinand-de-Lesseps quay is located on the right bank of the Seine, between the Émile-Duchemin quay, the boundary of which is marked by the Gustave-Flaubert bridge and the Boisguilbert quay. The railway line which runs alongside the quay separates it from Boulevard Ferdinand-de-Lesseps. The hangars separate the quay from the Normandie-Niemen promenade (which stretches from the Gustave-Flaubert bridge to the Guillaume-le-Conquérant bridge).

History

The facades and roofs were listed as historic monuments in 1997. Building built by Lucien Lefort in 1901 during the westward extension of the port facilities. The building consists of an industrial brick tower with an upper elevation treated in false machicolations surmounted by a pyramid roof. A small adventitious building of the same structure contained part of the machinery. Nothing remains of the old interior installations.
