Long Description:

Translated from the above noted text:

Mathurin Moreau is the creator of these fountains, the arrangement of the sculptures and ornaments were done by Michel Joseph Napoléon Lienard.

"Neptune is the best known of the four characters. As everyone knows he was in mythology the god of the seas and oceans which justifies his presence on this fountain dedicated to the marine world. Galatea was a marine nymph (Nereid) who was remembered to be in love with a young Sicilian shepherd. Acis was precisely in Greek mythology that young shepherd love and love Galatea found at his side on the fountain. His love for Galatea caused his loss because jealous, Cyclops Polyphemus crushed under a rock. Amphitrite is also one of the Nereids and she is the fourth character of the fountain »
