Brandenburg's historic downtown is over
1,000 years old. In medieval times, the town was protected by a sturdy wall and seven watch towers, of
which four have been preserved.
According to a stone plate in the foundation, the
Mill Gate Tower was built
in 1411. Is is 95 ft tall and was named after a nearby water mill. With its
octagonal layout and its eight tall ogee pointed arches, the Mill Gate Tower is the best example of Gothic
architecture of all the remaining towers. |
