[ENG] The organ of the main church Sankt Jacobi in Hamburg was built from 1689 to 1693 by Arp Schnitger. It has four manuals, a pedal and 60 stops, including 15 reeds, with a total of almost 4000 sounding pipes. Altogether, only few changes were made to the organ between its construction and its partial destruction during the Second World War. The old stock of pipes was almost completely preserved with the exception of the front pipes. It is the largest organ work from the time before 1700 and is one of the most important preserved baroque organs.
Every Thursday between 16:30 and 17:00, 30 minutes of organ music played by Gerhard Löffler and others can be enjoyed. Admission is free.
