A veritable open-air architecture museum with more than 171 structures, the line was completed in 1870 and gave birth to the first train on this Cévenol route.
The viaduct of the Madeleine is a metal bridge in multiple trellis girder. It is a railway bridge (rail bridge) that allows the line of the Cevennes (also called Saint-Germain-des-Fosses line in Nimes-Courbessac) to cross the Allier. This line is still active and passes by the station of Monistrol d'Allier.
